The Front

Paradoxically both new and improved!

“We are masters of the unsaid words, but slaves of those we let slip out”
~Winston Churchill

An Introduction ·

Mindhole was founded in New York in 2005 by a small group of writers, artists, and other creative individuals as a medium through which we could comment on each other’s ideas and work together on collaborative projects. One such project was the Mindhole Department of Culture. Originally designed as a way to share interesting things among our small group, The Department of Culture soon blossomed into a vast archive of art, film, and other interesting tidbits we came across. We had fallen into a pit of culture with no way out. This is our way out.

This blog, The Front, is Mindhole’s attempt to reach past the walls of our institution and share with the public the results of our curious findings and creative projects. Here we will post the finest samples from our archives for your enjoyment. Not only that, but we will try to convey the particularly peculiar philosophy and aesthetic we’ve developed in our seclusion.
What is that philosophy, exactly? It’s hard to clearly say, as it’s mostly been cobbled together from a mix of surrealist art exhibits, brain-pretzling literature, and outdated civil defense films. But perhaps it would be easier if we showed you rather than told you. Perhaps it would be easiest if you simply read onwards and experienced for yourself.
